All things are in motion. Each day the earth spins on its axis at a thousand miles an hour. We whirl around the Sun at 67,000 miles an hour, traveling 585 million miles in a year. The solar system in turn circles the galactic core at roughly 420,000 miles an hour.
Close your eyes for a moment and consider it.
Yet twice a year we sweep through a place of Balance. Equinox – from the Latin word for “equal night” – is the moment when the Sun crosses the equator, shining on the northern and southern hemispheres equally. March 20 marks the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere.
March brings ample opportunities explore balance — between action and withdrawal, intellect and emotion, manifest and imaginal.
Water is everywhere the first few weeks of March. A new Moon in Pisces on March 11 sees 7 of 10 planets in water signs. It’s a time for creative inspiration, diving deep into the heart of the matter, and respecting the power of emotion in our lives.
After the Moon the pendulum swings rapidly. Three planets zoom into fiery Aries – Mars on March 12, the Sun on March 20, and Venus on March 22 – launching us into the sunlight after a long swim. March 17 the communication planet Mercury returns to his habitual direct motion, ungating stalled projects. Like the dolphin, we are learning to shift gracefully between the worlds.
A full Moon on March 27 in Libra, the scales, allows us to apprehend the emotional consequences of our choices. With transformative Pluto waiting in the wings, you may find your time of indecision comes to an end.
No matter what you choose, keep your perspective. The world will continue its spin. It always does.
